The Comfort of A Summer Jacket

If there is a word to define clothing that is perfect yet somewhat crumpled, smooth yet somewhat spongy, patterned yet not in a way that would scare the horses, it is almost certainly an Italian word for which there is regrettably no English equivalent. Flat, shiny cloth just doesn't cut it in summer, least of all the American summer, and certainly not when you’re talking about finding the right summer blazer. You want cloth that is rough enough to look casual and has enough body to handle the vagaries of humidity and heat, and the crumple factor — well, the crumple factor is key. Linen, with its naturally burlapy look, is the perfect foundation for conveying that oh-fk-it nonchalance required of the summer blazer, and when it's blended with wool (like, say, the carefully calculated 60/40 linen-wool blend of this superlative Etro specimen), the crumple more or less takes care of itself. If only we could say the same for our tans.

Seersucker Print

If your a business man, I'm sure you've felt the unbearable heat of summer while in your suit's and tweed jackets. However, with seersucker you will over heat no more, and still look presentable to any board members. Seersucker is perfect for hot weather because of its natural ability to "wick" moisture away from the skin.  The wavy, crinkled finish of the cloth allows only part of the fabric to actually touch the skin.  This effect promotes greater circulation and evaporation during steamy conditions. You can buy seersucker today in suits, shirts, trousers, and even shorts.  Suits will look best with buck shoes, and if you want to be a little eclectic, throw in a bow tie.
for a cheaper suit from Mr. Bathing Ape it will cost you (upwards of $1,000)

RULE 34

According to Wikipedia, Rule 34 is generally thought to originate from “The Rules of the Internet” copy paste. Despite the possibility that Rule 34 came from the larger list, this singular rule is by far the most popular, widespread, and therefore enforced. This can be proven by studying the search results and activity.
the rule is
if you can think of it, someone has already made a porn of it… no exceptions.
PORN!!

Bomb It

This newer film reveals the true beauty of the spray painting world. It essentially is a massive documentary of what street art is, it's emotion and how each country has it's own spin on it. As I'm sure we all know that no style is the same, however, there are many that share similarity's. Well, this fantastic movie by Jon Reiss called Bomb It ($20), can show you all the different styles of the world. Maybe you will introduce a new one to your area.

Tree House Living

Not far off the Pacific coast in the Costa Rican jungle, a community has taken to the trees to craft a new, sustainable life off the grid and away from urbanity.  Finca Bellavista is a community of long-term residents and travel guests housed in a network of tree houses built right into the rain forest canopy.  Perched above the forest floor, these tree houses are connected by zip lines and sky bridges, accessible by stairs and ladders from the ground level.  It’s the Swiss Family Robinson come alive, created by a duo of dreamers who had enough of on-grid living in the United States.

Founders Matthew and Erica Hogan created Finca Bellavista not as their own private escape, but as an evolving community that is continuing to attract traveling guests and established residents alike.  Plots are available for purchase in the community where new residents can craft their own tree houses and join the growing number of residents.  Visitors can choose from a number of existing rentals for short or long-term stays, perfect for those who need a temporary getaway from modernized life.

That’s not to say that modern touches aren’t available at Finca Bellavista.  Limited electricity, hot showers and even WiFi are available, primarily at the Finca Bellavista community center.  While many of the raised structures are connected by zip lines only, the community is continuing to develop a sky bridge that currently connects a smaller cluster of tree houses.  As new residents get involved, more of these developments are produced by the community

The nature around Finca Bellavista is the central focus of community life.  Two rivers run along the community property with crystal clear water and large, flowing waterfalls that often encourage visitors to dive in.  The ocean is a hike from the community, and a small rural town is just a mile-and-a-half away.  But the most valued experience of life at Finca Bellavista is the environment directly within the forest itself.  Wild lizards, birds and monkeys share the plot with its human inhabitants, providing for a very different experience than your standard house pet.

Maison L

This striking work of green residential architecture is almost sculptural in nature, a progressive design that paves its own path in the extra-Parisian countryside.  Maison L by Christian Pottgiesser is built into an 18th century orangery, constructed to preserve much of the existing plot and bringing the greenery into the design of this home.  Its main level is actually lowered below grade, providing for natural cooling through a large, open set of rooms that are partially lit by skylights above.

The roof above the main level is laced in local greenery that wrap around those skylights.  Above the green roof rise a series of three-story towers that each feature a private bedroom, bathroom and changing area.  Each is positioned with its own unique view of the land beyond, a nice way of designing the layout of the house around the features of the plot.  Maison L is just a short drive from Paris, and the Pottgiesser team did a brilliant job providing a nature-focused retreat on this old run of French countryside.

Lambo

Lamborghini has officially revealed their newest flagship super car, the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.  This stunning new Lambo is a genuine super car, capable of reaching speeds of 217 mph on the top end, breaking to 60mph in a blinding 2.8 seconds.  To put that in perspective, the Aventador hit 60 mph before you finished reading this sentence.

The design of the Aventador should feel familiar to Lamborghini fans, with trademark angles that ripple along its body in geometric symmetry.  Everything from the wheels to the intakes to the back end are all given a visual upgrade over the Murcièlago this beauty replaces.  Like those other recent Lambo’s, the rear window is perched above the Aventador’s nasty bits, providing a clear view of the fine Italian engineering within.

The engine of the Lamborghini Aventador is also a step up from the Murcièlago.  The Aventador is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine that boosts horsepower up to 691, but it both lighter and more fuel efficient than the engine it replaces.  That new engine plus an added focus on carbon fiber body construction gives the Aventador its blinding speed.

Want one of your own?  700-800 Lamborghini Aventadors will be produced each year, sold for an estimated $370k a piece.  The sales release can’t come soon enough, I'm pumped to see the newest Lamborghini out prowling the streets.

Ha Pickles

Coney Island Boardwalk Table
Long before Snooki’s Seaside search for pickles – both actual and metaphorical – another way more famous boardwalk was where the action went down.  Though now associated with crazy dudes inhaling hot dogs, Coney Island was once the epicenter of summer.  Now you can own a piece of the iconic boardwalk thanks to Uhuru, a Brooklyn-based furniture design company, in the form of this Boardwalk Table.  The wood used to create the table is all from the actual Coney Island Boardwalk (chewing gum and seagull crap removed).  How many pieces of furniture do you have that contain 70 years of history?  Seeing as how there’s only so much of the actual Coney Island Boardwalk Ipe wood to go around, there will only be 10 of these tables made, so if you’re ready to drop over 10 G’s on a table you gotta move faster than the Cyclone. about ($14000).

Start the Future

The World’s Strongest Beers

‘t Koelschip, A brewery based in Holland, has just created the worlds highest alcohol containing beer in the world. It's called start the future and it's rumored in order to defeat the past leader they had to add whiskey. Start the Future not surprisingly has to be sipped cautiously – at 120 proof it may burn off your larynx. Since it costs ($40) you may not want to down it too fast.

End of History

The World’s Strongest Beers

Created by a brewery called Brew Dog This amazing 110 proof beer is now the second strongest beer and the most expensive. Only 12 made and all being the stuffing of an ex-cute little animal, it's exclusivity is what drives it's price all the way up to ($780). The first thing you’d notice about End of History is that it’s served in a bottle tucked inside a dead animal.  Yup, a roadkill koozie.  Named after the work of philosopher Francis Fukuyama, End of History held the title of world’s strongest beer for one week.

RTRP1

we are pleased to announce the new collaboration between rough trade and rega the all new rtrp1 turnatble. recently launched the rp1 is the replacement for the p1 and once again we've added the classic rough trade logo
the new rega rp1 turntable, omitting all the usual gimmicks allows rega to concentrate the manufacturing costs on the high quality parts necessary to reproduce records accurately. using a manual speed change rather than an automatic mechanism eliminates speed inconsistencies and reduces wear of the drive belt. the money we save is spent across the design including a new hand assembled rb101 tonearm, precision main bearing, phenolic resin platter and a high quality low vibration motor which would normally be used on a turntable costing two or three times the amount. the minimalist design of the rega rp1 and the use of extremely high quality components ensure that this turntable will last for many years.
the rega planar 1 turntable is the first in a new generation of rega turntables offering far greater performance than their predecessors. we are confident the performance of this amazing new product will impress you. rest assured the only thing entry level about the rega rp1 is the price!

Apple Ipad 2

Steve Jobs made a surprise appearance today to introduce us to the iPad 2 ($500-$829). About 33% thinner than the current iPad (which makes it thinner than the iPhone 4), the all-new iPad features Apple's new dual-core A5 processor for faster everything, as well as a front-facing VGA camera for FaceTime, and a rear-facing camera that captures 720p HD video. It's also got a built-in gyroscope, HDMI video output at 1080p HD ($39 cable required), 10 hours of battery life, and the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen. Choose from black or white in 16GB ($500), 32GB ($600), 64GB ($700) sizes. If you want built-in 3G, you'll have to pay ($129) more — 16GB ($629), 32GB ($729), 64GB ($829).

Urbanized

In 2005 I began work on my first documentary, Helvetica, which looked at the worlds of typography and graphic design through the eyes of one loved/hated/ubiquitous little font. I wasn't a designer, or even a filmmaker, just a design geek who really wanted to see a movie about fonts! After Helvetica was released in 2007, I had the idea for a second film, Objectified, which focused on industrial design and product design, and our relationship with the manufactured objects that surround us. But I realized there was more to explore, and had the initial ideas for a third film that would also examine how design affects our lives. So I began thinking of the films as a "design trilogy".

The third documentary in this trilogy is about the design of cities. Urbanized looks at the issues and strategies behind urban design, featuring some of the world's foremost architects, planners, policymakers, builders, and thinkers. I've teamed up once again with cinematographer Luke Geissbuhler, and we've been traveling around the world interviewing people and filming specific urban design projects that represent the issues facing cities today. The world's population is in the midst of a massive migration to urban areas, and the design solutions our cities implement in the next 20 years will be critical.
